Young’s was founded on the banks of the Thames in 1805 as a whitebait business. Now, over 200 years on, Young’s is the UK’s number one branded seafood business, employing over 2000 staff in 7 locations, with an unbroken reputation of success in supplying quality seafood products.
1805 Young’s founded by Elizabeth Young
1925 Young’s among the first to undertake sales of frozen Labrador Salmon
1946 Young’s invented Scampi
1950s Young's moves to Grimsby
1999 Legal and General acquires Young's from United Biscuits and Bluecrest from Booker
2000 Young’s brand relaunched, leading to the doubling of sales over the following 5 years
2002 Management buy-out of Young's Bluecrest with CapVest Ltd
2003 Acquisition of Gosforth factory from Albert Fisher plc
